What Are Golden Agreements?
Golden Agreements are the commitments we make to one another.
The process starts one-on-one, where the client shares their values and wishes in their own words. That becomes a written summary they can review and make truly theirs. Then the family comes together, and what was shared privately gets said out loud, in the room, so everyone hears the same thing at the same time.
That's where the actual agreements get made: specific commitments the family can return to as life changes, not a document signed once and filed away.
Every Golden Agreement rests on six pillars: Open Communication, honest conversation while there's still calm and clarity. Health, Safety and Comfort, a shared understanding of what quality of life means. Legal Organization and Alignment, making sure the right documents are in place and understood. Compassionate Vigilance, noticing changes with care rather than alarm. Family Harmony, decisions centered on what the client wants. Cost and Time Protection, an honest look at the financial and time realities ahead.
A Golden Agreement isn't a legal instrument, and it's never really finished.
It's a living reference point a family returns to, so that when the hard moments come, no one is guessing.
Clarity before crisis.
